Press Release:

Drawings and Paintings by Laura Higgins Palmer are the focus of a show at Paper Rock Scissors April 12 through May 14, 2005. The award-winning artist has a unique artistic method. Palmer can often be seen by an observant audience member sitting near the front of an auditorium or in a corner of the dance studio actively sketching the dancers as they rehearse or take class. Some of these sketches are finished artistic statements in themselves, directly expressing the artistry or emotions of the performers. Other works, including stunning oil paintings, are developed into finished works in the artist's Annapolis studio. Featured in this show are drawings and paintings from the "Carnevale Romano" inspired by the Artist's time in Italy. Also included are some rarely seen sculptures inspired by the choreography of Ballet Theatre of Maryland's beloved Eddie Stewart.

Through "Drawn to Dance" the Artist seeks individuals who wish to collaborate in a book project intended to inspire dancers and dance lovers with words and images. Individuals may participate by contacting the artist.
